THE KARRI VALLEY TRIATHLON

Race Rules

The following race rules are in accordance with Triathlon Australia Guidelines and will be enforced during the event.


The Swim- An athlete may use any stroke for propulsion through the water, they may also tread water or float. If a wetsuit is permitted it must be no more than 5mm thick. If an athlete is deemed to receive assistance beyond having a rest they must withdraw from the event. You must wear the swim cap provided by the race organisation.


The Cycle- Knowing and staying on the course is the athletes responsibility. A competitor must remain as far left as practicable unless overtaking, where they must refrain from blocking. All competitors must obey all traffic laws and any directions given by course officials. No bare torso is allowed on the bike. Drafting off another competitor or vehicle is not allowed.


The Run- It is the responsibility of the competitor to stay on the course. A competitor may run or walk, but no other form of movement is permitted. No bare torso is allowed.


The transition- The helmet must be securely fastened on the head of the competitor before removing or replacing the bicycle on the rack in the transition zone. A competitor must mount and dismount the bicycle at the respective designated zones. A competitor must at all times rack their bicycle only in the designated location on the rack, and must leave it in a stable position. A competitor is not to interfere with another competitors equipment in the transition zone. A competitor must not impede the progress of another competitor.


Any violation of the rules mentioned above will results in penalties determined by the race referees at the time of infraction, or disqualification from the event.
